SAFETY

Racing Bike HelmetSafety of the rider or passenger would be most certainly compromised without the use of suitable safety equipment and clothing whilst riding.

Given that during a crash a motorcyclist is usually separated from the Bike, a compliant helmet and other proven body protection will help to reduce injury.

For instance, a recent analysis showed that unhelmeted injured motorcyclists are three  times as likely to sustain a brain injury compared to helmeted injured motorcyclists.

In addition, body protection garments made of good quality leather can prevent serious deep abrasions.

Looking at the common circumstances and serious after-effects of motorcycle accidents, there has been peculiarly little study of their origin. The bulk of the work done on this subject in the United States is the Hurt Report, created around 1980 in the LA region.

The primary cause of motorcycle accidents is the riders failure to counter steer. Counter steering depends upon steering left to turn right, and right to turn left. Speed is not a major element in most crashes, according to the Hurt Report.
