CLOTHING
Motorcycle safety has been improved given the mandate of many developed countries regarding motorcyclists wearing protective clothing, especially a helmet. Additional protective clothing would include various types of gloves, boots, jackets and trousers. Motorcyclists jackets are usually made of leather nylon, or Kevlar. Typically jackets are heavily padded on the spine, elbow and shoulder regions. Gloves are mainly produced out of leather or Kevlar and often include additional knuckle protection made from carbon fiber.
Sports riding boots include reinforcement to toe and ankle areas. Ideally a safety conscious motorcyclist will have boots with heels that grip on motorcycle foot pegs with good ankle support. Trousers are normally nylon, leather, or Kevlar. With the exception of helmets, these items are not generally required by law but are highly recommended by many riders.
